Does an eBook Make Sense for My Book?

David Broadbent, author of 389 Conversations With My Three Kids, writes “We’ve sold about 100 books through our website and had one radio interview with the ABC (The Australian Broadcasting Corporation) in Sydney and another one is scheduled with the ABC for March in Perth. We have yet to create an ebook, or list on Amazon, so I was wondering what you think of, firstly, ebooks, and then an ebook’s chances of actually being noticed on something as large as Amazon?

Dear David,

We think ebooks are here to stay and that you should bring your book out in an ebook edition if you would like to reach that growing channel of the book market. As for the question of getting a book noticed on Amazon—if you think about it, nothing has really changed. It’s a struggle to get attention for any book, whether in a brick and mortar store on online. But through online marketing (ads on search engines, search engine optimization, social media marketing, etc.) you can get your book noticed. Online and traditional methods of promotion should all be part of your marketing and publicity campaign. Getting the word out is getting the word out. Good luck!
