Carl Kleinberg writes, “I have a client who has written and copyrighted her book entitled Growing Up Jewish In The Mob. I would like to inquire your opinion as to where to get this book published. Any advice would be helpful.”
My Son the Mobster?
The Geltfather?
Our serious answer: if this is a beautifully-written memoir the subject matter is compelling enough that a trade publisher might be interested. Your best bet is to find a literary agent to shop the book to publishers. There are many books (including ours) that walk the reader through this process, from agent search to bookshelf. The best source for finding agent listings is Literary Marketplace, a publication found online and in most libraries.
With memoirs, as with fiction, the key is in the writing.
